NEWS AND EVENTS MetroGroup launches new division, Metro Group Maritime New York, NY, June 6, 2005 -- MetroGroup is pleased to announce the formation of Metro Group Maritime. This new division will focus exclusively on the collection of freight and transportation debt. Metro Group Maritime has extensive experience with the many nuances of collecting maritime freight and transportation debt, (e.g., freight, bonds, customs, per diem charges, demurrage, Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regulations, etc.). Additionally, they have extensive contacts at both the FMC and at many bonding (insurance) companies. Furthermore, they have wide-ranging expertise in dealing with international bankruptcy proceedings including prosecuting claims and defending preference actions. Neil Ross, Esq., who has more than 11 years of experience collecting freight and transportation debt, will be heading Metro Group Maritime. Mr. Ross has worked with some of the world’s leading liners and freight forwarders and stays abreast of the industry by continuing his maritime studies, most recently, at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. "I am very excited about this venture. It represents the next step in MetroGroup's already well-established and successful history within the maritime industry," said Mr. Ross. For more information about Metro Group Maritime please email Neil Ross, Esq. at nross@mgmus.com MetroGroup publishes the maiden issue of The MetroGrouper The first issue of The MetroGrouper was circulated as a supplement to the April 11, 2005 issue of Tradeshow Week. It is our goal that it becomes an invaluable source of information for the tradeshow industry. We feel it is significant because it is focused on a very specific and generally unaddressed segment of the industry, AR-related matters, and it is important to take the lessons we have learned and parlay them into industry-wide "best practices." MetroGroup, for example, has found ways for companies to earn hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of dollars by eliminating, or at least reducing, the revenue leaks within their organizations. We hope this magazine will be an enjoyable yet informative vehicle to impart some of the valuable knowledge we have garnered throughout our many years of working in the tradeshow industry. If you would like to discuss accounting and/or legal issues with regard to accounts receivable or collection matters, please do not hesitate to contact us. Additionally, if you have any specific topics that you would like to see covered in upcoming issues, please let us know. Alternatively, we would certainly welcome article contributions. We feel this would not only serve to increase the educational content of the magazine, but would also present different viewpoints which might foster new ways of looking at issues that you, or some of your colleagues, might have encountered in the past. For more information or to submit an article for future consideration, please contact Marcus L. Arky, Esq. at mlarky@b2bcollector.com or A. Greer Pritchett at gpritchett@b2bcollector.com. On May 3rd, at the Rosemont Convention Center in Illinois, MetroGroup presented a lecture at the IAEM's Professional Development Conference. The talk revolved around the idea that the tradeshow exhibitor contract should be used as a tool to increase the organizer's cash flow. Marcus L. Arky, Esq., MetroGroup's General Counsel and Vice President of Sales, and A. Greer Pritchett, MetroGroup's Director of Research and Education, explained how a properly drafted exhibitor contract can create unforeseen revenue streams, reduce expenses and even increase exhibitor sales. Attendees were able to walk away with refined legal and accounting clauses which are integral to the success of one's revenue-maximized contract. |
